I graduated this year and got my first job, but to find it's not as great as I expected. Everything seems boring for quite a long time, but now I have found new fun in my outdoor life. It's fantastic! Hope more people will fall in love this sports:)

However, I just got a second-hand backpack and even don't have a tent yet.

I wonder where you guys buy your outdoor equipment, could you recommend some good stores?

I got this from my friend, but not sure if really that good.

Hope we can exchange more useful info here, that's why I join in today.

Outdoor Outlet in St. George! It rules. Small and personal and great prices.

If you need stuff on the cheap you can always checkout craigslist.com or ksl.com for people selling their gear. There are some great deals to be had there. SteepandCheap is good if you don't mind persistent and unwelcome marketing like backcountry.com catalogs in the mail and promotional emails you never said you wanted, and can't unsubscribe from if you use a catchall email address on your domain. As much as I hate their post order marketing I can't stop watching for the stuff I 'need' to get ;) If you want stuff for free - make friends with someone who always wants something lighter or stronger to take in their pack and are constantly upgrading.

I get a lot of junk mail at my place. But getting junk mail worth looking at (rei or backcountry.com) is welcome material in my home. I at least look over it before it goes in the trash.

Recreation Outlet is the best! I'm heading there right now after I post this.

Ok they are good to me, so I have to be good to them. www.backcountry.com has TONS of gear and their warehouse is in West Valley. You can order and then pick it up if you don't want to wait for them to ship. If you don't mind waiting (they have a TV and couch to chill on) you can just walk in, find what you want on their computers, then they will pull your gear and bring it out to you. You can even try stuff on if you need.

If you are looking for quality gear then you should check out Hansen Mountaineering in Orem. They are a good sized shop and the sell a lot of gear. If they dont have what you need then a lot of times they can order it. I have been getting gear there for 10 years and they have always treated me well. But i guess it depends on what you are looking for. I you want outlet gear then try the Recreation outlet. I have also gotten some good random buys on Steepandcheep.com. I like to support the local shops but this website sometimes has deals that you just cant pass up. Hope this helped :haha:
