Today on my way to Solitude I saw two cars off the road in big cottonwood canyon.
Believe it or not both they were 4x4's :eek2:. The amount of suv's and trucks that I see stuck in rivers, snowbanks, or smashed into guard rails compared to cars every winter simply shocks me ... are people really that dumb? What makes people think that just because you have four wheel drive you wont slide or spin out while driving on a slick road?

I was just driving by and took a quick shot, there was a full sized truck attached.

Had to throw the chains on this morning.
I took this pic about at about 8:15, 13 inches of ultra light snow today at sundance.
WINTER IS HERE!

HHmmmmm....looks pretty normal for here :ne_nau: I'll have to find/take some shots here. I just leave it in 4WD most of the winter....we dont use salt on the roads..just sand, so if its cold enough it doesnt melt...just blows around from town to town :haha:

I last night was on my way from West Valley heading downtown (SLC). I saw half a dozen multiple car wrecks/slide-offs. All but one had SUV's or big 4X4 pickups involved. Four wheel drive only helps you go. Having a 4X4 isn't going to be much help when it comes time to use the brakes. Even the lowliest Yugo has four wheel stop.

On the way to work this morning there was quite a collection of idiots too. Some Ford 4X4 pickup driver (I don't need to say IDIOT since it's implied and understood when you say Ford), towing a trailer, insisted on being less than 10 feet from the back bumper of whatever car was in front of him. Uh dude, I'm not speeding up for your sorry stupid hide. You can wait. Did you not get the memo? It says "IT'S WINTER IDIOT. SLOW DOWN!" In case you missed it it's written all over your yard and the roads.

Luckily, we dont have traffic up here...just stupid a$$ drivers. Most people here know how to drive in the bad weather...must be in the genes or the water or something. I 80 is BAD to drive most of the winter having to compete with the crosscountry traffic so we are, for the most part, very careful because there are not that many people here so being stranded means a whole different kind of danger :eek2:

"One...two...three SUV's plunge hood first into Big Cottonwood Creek."

Deputy Sheriff Paul Christenson: "Yeah, it's speed, due to the icy roads, if you're going the speed limit you're going too fast."

4x4's stop the same as everybody else, they don't on ice :haha: Everybody who hops out and buys these things think that they can still leave late for work as they do every day it is dry out. I'll never understand that. Ya, you get better traction, but stopping and slowing are the same issues for everybody :naughty:

Pella, we have a Pella place a town over from here :lol8:
