That particular shot caught my eye as well. Where was that one taken, Brewhaha? Looks like the kind of place I'd be tempted to climb to the top of. How close together are the two parts of the river on the other side of the meander?
Edit: Nevermind, I just got curious and did a Google image search for "river meander" and found this shot of the same bend:

Yep, that's it. It's called Horseshoe Bend about 5-6 miles south of Page downriver from Glen Canyon Dam. It's an easy .5 mile hike from the main highway. Pretty impressive.
