I didn't actually vote for a park....Flaming Gorge National Rec. Area
:fishing:
FWIW, call it a parting shot, if there was one thing I'd change about outdoors in Utah, it would be to add mountain bike trails in the Flaming Gorge area. Stuff along the lake would rock, or a trailhead out of Little Hole. Something like that.

Capitol Reef reminds me alot of Zion 30 years ago.... Its really nice and really mello. The rangers a nice and helpful and no canyoneering permits are required. Probably about as many slot canyons in Capitol Reef as there are in Zion, just that most of them are still flying under the radar or have yet to be discovered.

Goblin Valley is just a cool place to visit and my kids love it. And while not in the park, Little Wild Horse is only a couple of miles away.

I have never been to Captiol Reef, but having a good idea (is that possible?) of how you think ------- That's what I was thinking you were thinking.

I think that Capital Reef is charming. I love it's orchards and the fact that you pick your own fruit is so clever.

I haven't spend much time at Canyonlands (only 2 days actually) but it seems like the least enjoyable of the parks to me. Does anyone here love Canyonlands?

I love Canyonlands. It's main problem is that it requires effort to enjoy. You either have to have a 4 WD or need to be willing/able to hike 4-12 miles round trip to start to really appreciate it. There are a few short hikes but most of these are fairly uninteresting. The longer hikes are fabulous.

The other thing is that in many ways it is like three adjacent national parks. Each district has it's own personality and history.

Are there any lush places with waterfalls? :fishing:
