From the Trib: "... a potent winter storm is expected to sweep over the state this week, bringing as much as 10 inches of snow in the valleys and up to 3 feet in the mountains."

From past observations: if the NWS calls for a ton of snow here in the valley, it usually amounts to a couple of inches or less. When they predict the possibilty of scattered flurries is when we get slammed.

No kidding....they usually do well forcasting the mountain snow but almost always miss in the valleys. Christmas day, 2003, I got several inches of partly cloudy at my house in Sandy....

Here's a slice from the special weather statement here in Oklahoma...

AS THE FRONT PASSES...RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS
WILL DEVELOP NEAR THE FRONT...WHILE ARCTIC AIR QUICKLY MOVES IN
BEHIND IT. AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING...PRECIPITATION
SHOULD CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN AND FREEZING DRIZZLE...
