I am going down to Escalante on Friday to hike out to the "Golden Cathedral". Does any body have any recommendations on what we should do while we are down in the Escalante/Grand Staircase area? I have hiked out to both upper and lower calf creek falls before, but I would like to find some cool stuff in the area that I haven't done.

Anyway, does anyone have any good ideas for this weekend?

Should I be worried about the roads? I would rather not take my jeep to save on gas, but I don't know if my Saturn can make it? :)

I know some of the Escalante roads took a real beating in the moonson season, looks like you might be taking the Jeep.

I suggest you read this thread for some insight and entertainment on Neon (Golden Cathedral).

This is a favorite and somewhat secluded hike, highly recommended.

Another really good, but long and many times crowded hike would be Coyote Gulch. Be sure to take a rope, just in case, if you do this route.
