i have been meaning to ask you. Is that shirt/symbol/avatar associated with your mining company? or is it a more general/universal symbol? or is it something you made? definitely a cool symbol.

That symbol/shirt is completely unrelated to my company. I saw it for sale on a website called www.t-shirthell.com, and I had to have it.

I do wonder, why it is that females are always afraid of online forums/guilds/clans/groups. It seems like that every online organization is overpopulated by males.

Going hiking I meet as many females on the trails as males, but coming to forums/web sites, the ration drops to more like 90/10 or 80/10 towards males..... strange

When talking about adults on the net ----- I have found it has to do with the following:

1. Men have the good jobs where they can talk on the net while at work. Notice how many posts are during normal working hours M-F, 9-5.
2. Single women are busy looking for men and have no time for idle chit chat on the net. They want a man!
3. Married women are busy cooking, working, cleaning and raising babies and have no time for the net. (you know those things)
4. Many women prefer to gab on the phone instead of the net.
5. Most on the net at night are married men stuck at home with kids, but dont have do spend ALL (some of course) their time cleaning, cooking and such so they get some playtime.

Granted these are very general! There are many exceptions to them, but they are what I have observed.

Alex
10-23-2006, 08:25 AM
Good observations. That's funny, I have all these friends (divorced/single men) who are looking for women too....wish there was a way to combine the two and help everyone out.

I guess another thing about women/men online is the flurting factor. I think once a woman makes a post that she is really a woman and not a dude in a wife beater, all men start hitting on the women. I guess some women find that offensive. :eek2:

I'll give you a second female opinion on this. I think the word "afraid" is way off base. The board I frequented constantly in MI (mmba.org) is full of females and even has a forum just for the ladies. The board is where we all went to check on group rides, and other activities centered around riding. Cant say what the problem is here... maybe Tanya's right, in Utah, the ladies are cooking cleaning and takin' care of babies, that wasnt so much the case back home, but that doesnt make much sense since they are out playing regularly, maybe they just choose not to be bothered or would rather read a book, or work on their bike, then sit at a computer, maybe they have a better work ethic. As far as the single factor, the forums are a great way to meet guys (and gals) - you automatically have common interests, just go to group outings or rides or hikes, whatever, and there you go, or do an IM if you know someone is single. However, I do think that the excessive flirting is a bit uninteresting on a board like this. Maybe I'm getting stuffy in my old age. :D

Here are a few pics of me from various adventures. The one of me in the pothole has a funny story behind it. My buddy Mike asked how deep I thought the hole was. I said I thought it was about 6-feet deep. He said no way, it's 10 feet deep. Well no argument can go unsolved between us and I don't carry a tape measure when I go hiking so I jumped into the hole. It was 8-feet deep and took a bit more effort to escape than I had planned. I guess either we were both right (if you averaged our guesses) or we were both wrong.

I think it's because my friend had to use the flash to even see me. The foreground is bright, the middle is darker, and the rocks in the bottom are light. I think I look like I'm floating a bit. I was really glad I didn't find any critters living down in there.

Take the highway 6 exit in Spanish Fork and head towards Price. Look for the turn off on the left for Diamond Fork/Palmyra campground ( just before the Thistle turnoff) and head up canyon. I think it's like 9 miles or so - go past Diamond Fork campground(the two camps are one & the same now) and look for a pullout parking area signed as Three Forks. You can park this side of the creek and take the foot bridge - the trail starts to the left of the open area and follows the left side of the fork feeding into the stream you just crossed. Follow the trail crossing a few forks and looking for small trail signs you should come to the hotsprings area within a few miles...follow your nose! Springs are on both sides of the creek leading up to the base of a waterfall that is over your head..20 feet or so. You are there! People have built pools in the area that are both fed by the springs and the creek..moderating temps very nicely! Enjoy! :2thumbs:

Say, bungee - any bungee jumping in Utah?

I have bungie jumped twice here in Utah at local fun parks (raging waters, & the 49th St Galleria / Fun Dome) but I don't know of any outdoors bungiejumping, but probably because I don't know the right people.

Hell, I'm nothing if not an exhibitionist.

I'm either tired, drunk, or both in this pic. (I'm on the left). My arms aren't nearly burly enough to pull off the "bad ass" look. My brother pulls off the "contemplative" look pretty well though.

Edited to change "voyeur" to "exhibitionist". Duh.

Glad you asked! That's a Gibson acoustic/electric that belongs to Michael Falzarano, guitarist for both NRPS and Hot Tuna. He let me use it, since I'd not brought an axe. The guitar has been played by Robert Hunter and Peter Rowan. It is fraught with Freak Power.

My own inlude a Gibson Blues Hawk and Fender Twin (100 watt tube); a Beneteau acoustic; and a Fender Newporter (from the early 80s California Series) that is a faithful stage guitar. I also play a Fender Jazz bass.

I think this photo is from poison spider trail. I've been up moab rim as well. Both trails are challenging, but moab rim has a couple pretty tough areas for atvs.
