Well some fellow uutards and I (and a few others) are planning on doing a weekend canyon trip this weekend. Unfortunately a (dry) cold front is coming in to ruin the 70 degree weather thats been going on today and tomorrow, pushing daytime highs down into the low 50s.

I'd prefer to stay as close as possible since i can't leave until later friday and would prefer to be home before too late on sunday.

We all are fairly experienced canyoneers and I think we all have quite a bit of neoprene to deal with cold water and experience with it. I really liked the idea of getting out and playing in all the water that this past storm has left everywhere, but now I'm wondering if we shouldn't find something that isn't a full-on rap-and-swim canyon since the cool weather could put a damper on our fun.

Before the cold front development we narrowed it down to Squeeze + Quandary, or Cheesebox and Black Hole and almost settled on the former option due to the drive time differences.

Now I'm wondering if something like Pandoras + NF Iron wash wouldn't be more fun in the cooler air, since they have a little water but it isn't nearly as much as the Hidden Splendor stuff...

What canyons would you do?

I usually like to save North Wash for full on winter when the crowds are gone.

pandora's is long, and with waning daylight, it would be good to start early.

what about hdh/gdj?

Pandora's would be my choice. Awesome canyon! Very little water. There is only one MANDATORY chest-deep pothole in Pandora's - go prepared to either strip n' swim, or have neoprene.

Have fun!! :2thumbs:

We lucked out and the pothole was frozen solid when we did PB, Nothing like walking on water :haha:

A friend just sent me some pictures of Arscenic from last weekend and it was filled with water, lots of wading..... so the Poison Spring stuff might be a good time. The Maidenwaters and Trail should also be topped off.
