We were told there are no slots around Moab and that there are no class C canyons in the desert. :lol8:
Here are some pretty pictures from our day in the desert. And remember.... we invited every member of this forum to join us so it's your own fault if you missed out :five:

Despite some rain, the temps actually were very pleasant. I never got chilled anywhere along the route. I agree with Scott - October is definitely optimal canyoneering season.
That little squeezy slot was crazy! Definitely one of the more scenic canyon routes I've ever done. :2thumbs:

the canyon looks pretty scenic, especially with all that water flowing through it ... lucky you! that waterfall rappel pix rocks!
... and naturally shane finds a way to adhere a perverse name ...
more secret canyons? is this shane/RG's name or the guiding company's name?
thanks for the pix!

That would be Shane's idea. I didn't oppose.

At the moment this TR is just fluff (pretty pictures to tease you). That is mostly because we are still working on the best possible route. Our approach sucked, but we think that we have an awesome new approach worked out to what should be a fun route. Best of all the new route doesn't require a car shuttle. With the help of Rockgremlin and a few others we hope to establish several fun Moab routes this winter.
If anyone else wants to join in on the fun the more the marrier....

Can you believe how quickly the weather changed from Friday to Saturday in Moab? Some friends and I climbed Elephant Butte in that rain. Even with sticky rubber shoes I almost ended up on my butt a couple times. We slid down a lot of the slope. The lichen got wet and was like grease.
Awesome TR. I'm glad to know somebody got to go swimming :haha:

Ya, no kidding!! Friday was a very nice day - almost early Autumn-esque. Heck, it was even slightly on the warm side.

I'm surprised you guys didn't get a shower at the final rappel. I always figured that final rappel could be interesting in a big rain storm.

I did get a shower at the last rap, but not much of one. It was just a trickle, kinda like the second (non-mandatory) rap in Birch Hollow last year. The "theater" (just below the semi-sketch 5.4 move) had a pretty good amount of water. There was also a lot of flow down the "slot" below the first rap when the first person got there, but it subsided quickly and was just a trickle when I got there. We got to the last rap after a lull in the rain and a little bit of sun. The "pothole" guarding the last rap had been scoured and was about a foot deep instead of the usual four or five inches.
I'll work up a TR when I get the chance. I'll probably post it in the hiking section.

I was hoping to get back down this weekend.... but now it looks like November 11th might be my next trip south.
Mind if I tag along? With that much notice I can totally plan it ahead....

I can't answer that yet because I'm still working details......
Well, I got an OK from the wife :2thumbs: so if a room for one more is open, I am game. (I don't care about the weather, I am in either way, unless I am in an emergency room or something).

That's probably why she made me such an attractive offer..... she didn't really want to go and knew the only way out was to come up with anther plan that I couldn't refuse :lol8:

??? A roleplay scenario where you are a puppy on a leash and she holds the end of it? That would turn me on too! :five:

I'm heading to Moab this weekend. I have done Medieval Chamber and Elephant Butte several times and am looking for another adventure. Any suggestions?

Have you checked out the Fiery Furnace area in Arches? Some cool stuff in there. Professor Creek?

There was a good thread on possible Moab Canyons a couple weeks ago. You might check it out for ideas.

Still working on details but .... either Nov 4 or 11th or both. One of those weekends I want to spend Saturday and Sunday while sleeping in a motel and eating in town.... I'm not into camping at the moment, to much work. The other weekend might just be down for Saturday only.
I'd like to get Snatch to go.... he has a route to show me.
It works for me whichever weekend and whichever arrangements. If you need someone to split the gas money with, I am willing.
If we don't have gear, I could take my honda down there, saves on gas.

It looks like Kazak and I are going to be in Moab Saturday morning. Our plan is to attempt Cameltoe with a new approach that Rockgremlin and I checked out. We have never done the complete loop we worked out and there is still a section of unknown slickrock cross-country type travel, but it looks like it could be fun.
Anyhoo..... if anyone wants to meet us in Moab on Saturday morning we probably have room for you to tag along. The loop should take around 6 hours I'm guessing. Seating is limited.
