My buddy bailed on me for November - I can't seem to find Oklahomans who like Utah the way I do (except maybe my wife). So, who wants to do Ding-Dang, Wild Horse Window, Crack Canyon, Chute Canyon, etc. hikes with me? We can meet Temple Junction or where ever. I'm up for anything else non-technical too. I am planning to drive Sunday, November 5, about as far as Farmington, NM, so I could be in the Swell by midday Monday, maybe? Traveling alone, so I am flexible. Ideas?

I would take you up on it, but I'm actually headed for Utah on the 9th through 12th. I assume those dates would be too late for you.

I've already been to those places you list several times (except for WHW which I've only been to once), and am looking to do something different, but if those dates would work for you, you could join us. I was thinking of doing Upper Horseshoe since I haven't done it yet.

I don't know if you are interested, but if you are, you are welcome to come.

Yeah, I know. It's just that I work on Saturdays. I have to drive all day Sunday to get west. Then I have the week.

Abby and I had an excellent Utah anniversary vacation last week; galleries and trip report to follow. It was my third trip to Utah this year, and I have decided it will be my last until next spring. As much as I want to do the Swell in November, I just don't have the moxie for another 20-hour drive and being away from the family for so long. The buddy who was going with me has bailed, and no one on this site could hook up with me mid-week. Instead, I'm thinking about going back to Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and also exploring a few (above-ground) trails at Carlsbad Caverns. In particular at Carlsbad, I want to see the Rattlesnake Canyon trail, since my wife and I read "Journal of the Dead" and wondered how the heck you could get lost in what looks, on the map anyway, like an easy navigation problem...

So anyway, I'll see you guys on the trail in the spring!
