Well, Sunday was my birfday, and I had to get out. Hit the LP, but the water was shyte....all turbid and off color. There was no hatch coming off even at 930am. Fished the river for awhile with no luck, moved into my secret hole on the river. Hooked up with a guy off a forum from back east who's moving out here (probably). He was here on a job interview, and I'll send him the Uutah link.
BWO's started coming off, and the bite was on. I caught about 10, including 5 over 16" (two rainbows and 3 browns). The rest were 12-16" browns.
After the guy from NC left, me and two guys I know returned to the hole. Its not very big, and the three of us were shoulder to shoulder basically. This assmonkey comes along and plants himself at the head of the pool, casting a spinner across the pool. Also, being upstream from the fish, he turned the bite off singlehandedly. What the hell is with some people?
:asshat:
Finally, after the 5th or 6th time he casted over my line I laid into him. I first chewed him out about casting over my line, and then about crowding a small hole and spooking the fish. He left without saying a word, I half expected him to come back with a shotgun, he had some maniacial look in his eyes.....F'em.
Without further ado...pics.
John was out here in Ewetah for a job interview. Good to know I'll be replaced with a heathen when I leave, gotta keep things in balance in the land of Zion.
We hooked up on the Provo river, lower section, on sunday. I guess he'd fished the middle on Saturday and didn't do great. Well, after two back-to-back storms, the LP was dingy with about 2' visibility. Not prime UT trout fishing. We fished the river for awhile, and he managed one rainbow while me and my buddy were skunked. However, I had an ace up my sleeve. I know where a small stream dumps crystal clear water into the river. There is a 100 yard sluice that acts as a filter, and the pool below it *always* holds fish when the river is in bad shape. The BWO's starting coming off, so the top water action heated up. John and I stood next to each other and swapped places in the pool a few times, bringing us both close to 10 fish for the day. I must say, though, mine were bigger....two fat rainbows started the melee, both about 16", and three Browns between 16-18" didn't hurt things.
At one point, the Heber Creeper (Clicky (http://www.hebervalleyrr.org/)) unloaded, and we drew a crowd of around 50 people (dangerously close to my backcast....I was working the far reach of the hole and casting about 30'), and when I landed a fat brown there was a wave of applause behind us.
Needless to say, it was an entertaining day. John is good company and fun to fish with. The weather cooperated, but the wind was a little tough...but the fishing made it worth it.
Some pics.

I won't publish the name of the spot, but I think anyone who knows the LP can figure it out. Please don't say the name of this spot.
I will say that I never see dedicated fishermen in the hole, and it's usually hit by kids with nightcrawlers. If the river is off (muddy, high, weedy), you can almost always catch fish in that hole.

What a dork. Did he actually hook into your line? (not that it matters)

Some guys have no common sense of courtesy.

Never hooked into my line, but there was no way you could not see my flourescent yellow fly line laid out across the hole.
The story is actually longer....we left for lunch, one guy stayed behind in that hole. This guy had come up and was casting across his line, too. Mike apparantly doesn't have the testicular fortitude to stand up for himself. So about an hour goes by and we return. Holes empty so we start fishing. Numbnuts comes back and starts casting across our line. He had an hour he could have fished that hole all by hisself, but as soon as we're fishing it, then he wants to fish it.....needless to say I was pretty perterbed....
