Yeah this is a running joke with the show. Its all staged and was run on JK's recent greatest hits show to start the season.

The part where they apologize to Matt on every show is obviously a running joke, but Matt had me going. I didn't think he was that good of an actor. Even Jimmy seemed pretty surprised - and he's not an actor at all. I should have known it was staged when they show Ben Stiller in the audience.
By the way, Matt Damon - a.k.a Tom Brady - got spooned last night by the Broncos.
