I am looking for a shop that sells good quality maps of the west desert, I have a extra credit project for my geology class. I need to get 2 maps one that is 1:100,000 scale and a 2nd that is 1:24,000 scale, The need to have the tier(T2N, T3N, T1S, T2S, T3S) and range (R8W,R9W, R10W AND R11W) I need to find the 1/4 post markings and the 4 corners of the sections. Any help would be great.
Thanks Gary

I know the BLM sells 1:100,000 maps. REI has a decent selection of maps (the BLM 1:100,000's). Utah Idaho Supply Map World has a selection at least as good as REI. Either store should have the 1:24,000, 7.5 minute quads you're looking for too, but my favorite place to find maps of Utah is

http://nrwrt1.nr.state.ut.us/cgi-bin/quadview.exe?Startup

If you don't need to purchase the maps your college library should have them in the reference area.

There is a place here in Ewetah called map world (clicky). (http://www.dexonline.com/servlet/ActionServlet?pid=bizProfile&bac=full&businessRecordID=-21jehl2t9eqaorte8cidg4io65&headingID=1053&incr=1&last10Saved=true&resultForm=BASIC)
REI carries maps, but I'm unsure of the scale.

The UGS located on North Temple in SLC has topo maps of every inch of the state, and a lot of other picture maps and guide books as well.

Google the UGS and I'm sure you'll find it. The maps are pretty cheap too.

Thanks for the replies, it looks like Utah Idaho Supply Map world is just down the street from me I'll have to check them out, My Professor said that their maps some times are not the best quality. I also refuse to shop at REI (personal reasons). What about the BLM and if so could someone point me in the direction of the one nearest BLM office to me I am at 6885 s redwood rd in the WJC
Thanks Gary

A map store in Lindon has the full set of the usgs 1:24000 quads + a bunch of other maps.

Let me know if you need the address, I could probably figure it out.

All of the USGS 7.5 minute topographical maps for the state of Utah can be downloaded for free from the Utah Division of Water Rights.

http://nrwrt1.nr.state.ut.us/cgi-bin/quadview.exe?Startup

You can then take the maps to a copy shop and have them print whatever you need...... just anther way to skin a cat.
