SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- State Rep. Mike Morley is considering legislation making that ski operators have authority to stop drinking on the hills and prohibit open containers on the lifts.

I wonder if this will evolve into open containers of soft drinks as well. In fact, I could see them banning any kind of outside food, just to make you buy it at the lodge.

I am guessing that means no beers in the lodge, And all the bars at the base of the resorts would be shut down. Can you imagine the impact of tourism?

i doubt this would ever be allowed to happen. drinking and skiing is one thing, but being able to drink at a ski area is another. i am skeptical any of this "ban on alcohol" will ever happen period. but there could be consequences of skiing over the limit possibly put into place. although, sometimes you just never know in this state....

though, there are a lot of drinking related accidents on the mountain, there are more so on the canyon roads. but this is a small percentage of the population we're talking here and this is more so true in the salt lake valley, maybe while we're at it, we should ban all drinking in the city.

this attitude reminds me of a recent article in the onion. they went as far to say that all passengers were banned on airplanes, because it was the only way to make flying safe :haha:
