Five-Ten High Impact

Here is some new dope on "the best" canyoneering shoe.....

It seems some for the canyoneers who talk with funny accents on the other side of the big pond have started to use the Five-Ten High Impact as the go-to canyoneering shoe.

Orgianally they went to this shoe out of desperation because they could not buy new Canyoneers. The High Impact is a free riding mountain bike shoe. I doesn't have cleats but it does have the the famous Stealth Rubber.

The shoe is reported to be more comfortable and more durable then the Canyoneer. The down-side is the shoe doesn't drain and doesn't dry worth a crap. The shoe also has a heavier feeling on the foot.

The shoe comes in two flavors.... high top or low top..... If nothing else at least this shoe isn't nearly as ugly as the Canyoneers.

Anyhoo..... if someone tests out a pair it would be interesting to hear an opinion or two.

i've got a pair of Five-Ten Insights that I like. I try to only use them in dry canyons, and save my Canyoneers for the wet ones.

I wear these shoes mountain biking. They are comfortable and make good hiking shoes (I push my bike up a lot of hills :haha: ) They have been wet from riding in the rain a few times and do not easily dry. It takes a couple of days to completely air dry. I am sure they would grip fine and work but they will hold water. If I ever get a canyon trip together I'll have to give them a try.

here is where I purchased mine.
