I don't believe that this is an isolated incident. I have two friends who had difficultly in canceling their accounts with AOL. One friend actually talked to me for about an hour because of how much difficultly that they gave him. He had/has so much spite, that the swore to them that he will do all in his power to deter people from joining AOL. He cancelled once after calling 4 different times after and being lost in the many phone transfers, and the final one he was transferred 4 times. Months later on they started rebilling him and direct debiting him again, and they took over a month to credit him back. After more battles he finally had to change his bank account.

I canceled an AOL account and that is exactly what it was like. Except I had to wait for nearly 30 minutes to talk with a human. This guy was lucky, he only had to wait 15 minutes.

too funny...

Thanks for the articles, and yep, they are still pulling the same sh*t today. Like I said, my friend ended up changing his bank account after they kept debiting it, then taking forever to credit him, then debiting him again. He sold me on staying away from them.
