While Super Mario Bros is fresh on the mind (and as I'm playing it right now) I wanted to show everybody where you can download these classic Nintendo and Atari games.
The website is theoldcomputer.com. Here's the link: http://www.theoldcomputer.com/MainMenu.htm
To play these games, you have to have an emulator. Think of the emulator as the NES console that plays the games.
Download NES Emulator Here (http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary%27s/Emulation/NES/NESten061B1.exe)
Once you have the emulator, you download the games also called ROM's.
On this site, there are 913 NES games available for free download!
A thru L games (http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary%27s/Emulation/NES/ROMs/NES_roms_summary%200-L.htm#-L.htm)
M thru Z games (http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary%27s/Emulation/NES/ROMs/NES_roms_summary%20M-Z.htm)
You'll download your game, most likely in a Zipped folder. Then you'll open the emulator, and load the game into it.
Play on!

I vote for "PONG," the original, the first, the start of the video revolution. :2thumbs: I would have voted for Super Mario, loved it, but after watching the Super Mario Bike (good job by the way) I can't get the blasted tune out of my head. :frustrated:

Sure it does! You've got to go to the Atari Emulator and ROM's. The ones above were mainly for Nintendo.
Here's the main page link again:
http://www.theoldcomputer.com/MainMenu.htm
Go to emulation there on the left. Then, you'll scroll down for the Atari emulators. You can choose from the 2600, 5200, and 7800. (I believe the 7800 emulator will play even the older 2600 games) Download and install an emulator, then go back to the ROM's page.
There are 842 roms for 2600, 179 for 5200, and 53 for the 7800.

This is funny as I see a "gametap" banner in my yahoo mail. If everybody knew about these downloads, gametap wouldn't make a dime.

Put me down for Contra, but another classic was the Gold "Legend of Zelda" game for the original NES. I loved that game. :2thumbs:

You need to put Castlevania up there. Oh so many hours wasted, and now so many more to waste. Thanks Sombeech!

Totally contra. I have all the old Nintendo games on my xbox, and last year my friend and I beat contra (for the first time in about 15 years). It was awesome! When you beat the game after it explains that you have saved the world, it says "consider yourself a hero". We still use that phrase all the time.
