Welcome to the forum Lisa! There are plenty of people here willing to give you tips and advice on where to go hiking and camping. You can just make a post in those forums, and people will be glad to help you out.

PS, don't let the guys here drive you nuts! It's good to have some more females on board.

Welcome Lisa!

You'll have to fight Savanna for the title of "Southern Belle" -- preferably in a kiddie pool full of chocolate pudding! :lol8: :haha:

Welcome to the site. You'll find that Utah is a helluva lot less vegetated than Florida, but I wouldn't trade our slickrock for anything!!

So where is a good "beginners" hike (in the SL area)? Not to easy but something to get me started.

Here is a great beginner hike for this time of year.

I know......I don't fight either......it was just some image candy for rockgremlin. :haha: The jello was in reference to Utah - the largest consumer of Jello in the nation.

I'm originally from the late, great city of New Orleans. I should probably consider myself a permanent resident of Utah since I've been here almost 10 yrs now. I go back home now and again to keep my roots alive.

Can you get to doughnut falls yet?

MAYBE. It's probably still pretty snowy up there right now. I'd wait at least a month or so. If you go, take some boots with which you would be comfortable in hiking through snow.

And be sure to give us a report. :2thumbs:

Recently, doughnut falls was closed to public access.

I suppose one could consider it poaching, if one went.

I am not sure if it's still closed or not, but hopefully someone will pipe in with the latest info.

In any case, doughnut falls can be accessed any time of year, and it's particularly nice in the winter. However, when you are walking on rotten snow and postholing, it's not that fun.

This would be a good time to post a link on hiking/high pointing. It'll reach more people who are thinking along these lines.

Why, do you want to become a female Moderator? :haha: Just kidding. I sent you a PM on this subject.
