Where is there beta? What kind of rock is it? What areas in Mexico? Is it real "slot" canyoneering?

I've been hoarding these links for a while now.

This is probably the most comprehensive database of international slot canyons I have ever seen:

http://www.barranquismo.net/BD/indice.htm

The home page is here:

http://www.barranquismo.net

Obviously an exorbitant amount of time and energy was devoted to assembling all of that data. Only disadvantage is that its all in Spanish. BTW, if you look under the USA section the majority of the slots are in the Colorado Plateau, and most have references to our wonderful sponsor...

www.climb-utah.com

Time to renew that membership... :five:

Another site devoted to just Mexico slots:

www.matacanes.net

But its a website for a company that guides tours through Mexican slots.

Yeah..... the guy that runs http://www.barranquismo.net is the ultimate beta hound. His name is Mortega Morta. I don't know how he does it. Just keeping up with the canyons in the western US is a major undertaking for me.

Morta used to post on the Yahoo Canyoneer eGroup http://groups.yahoo.com/group/canyoneer some when it was active. he is also a member of Uutah. Here is his profile http://uutah.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=197. I don't know how much he follows our little traveling circus.

You can use Google language tools http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en to read the http://www.barranquismo.net website. It's kind of slow going but with a little cut and paste you can wade through the pages.
