Hey.... I just heard from the Harris boys. You might remember them from this little adventure.

Anyhoo...... Justin and Jeremy's story of what happened in Baptist Draw is being aired on the Discovery Channel's "I Shouldn't Be Alive" series in May. I'll try and post show times and dates when I see them. Everyone else keep an eye out and let us know if you spy them first.

One other interesting tid-bit..... the Isuzu Trooper featured in the Little Wild Horse Flash flood story also belonged to Justin.

There's a story in today's Deseret News about these guys, and it says the show will air on November 10th.

Thanks for the update :2thumbs:

Dang..... I might need someone to record this for me. I foolishly volunteered to give a canyoneering presentation to a youth group on the night of the 10th.

I love this quote....

"I really feel like we all have two choices, no matter what happens to you. You can either be a survivor or a victim. It all depends on how you deal with it."

I can record it and burn it for you. I just bought a new tower with a tv tuner that records live tv. Worked really great last Thursday when I had school during the big TCU upset

Let me see when it's going to be broadcast and I'll let you know. I tried looking up the info on the Discovery Channel website but it has not been updated yet. I'm hoping the program will be broadcast several times the first day at different times and then I'll be able to snag it myself.

I do want a copy of this program since I try and collect this type stuff. It always comes in useful at a later date.

Update..... I just heard from Tricia Harris (Justin's wife). The Baptist Draw episode of I Shouldn't Be Alive is actually airing November 10th. The Discovery Channel saved it for their season preimer because they were so impressed with this episode. She also told me that Justin will be on Larry King this Friday.

The joke in my family whenever we see a rock cairn is.... "Hey look, somebody else was also lost" :lol8:

We do the same thing with footprints, especially when routefinding. :haha:

P.S. Can't quite figure out the quote functionality. Any tips?

I noticed there is a preview video on discovery.com. I love how the "pool" of water in the canyon is a pool in a clear, clean, flowing stream instead of the stagnant cesspool it probably was. Click on the very small video link in the banner that says "Nightmare Canyon" premiers Friday Nov. 10th.

Ya, cold clear water in Chute Canyon??? Hmmm, not quite. That down climb isn't that tricky either if it is the one I am thinking of. Boulder field below the rap out of Baptist into Chute? He probably just had a missplaced hand or foot that got him into trounle. I wonder if that last storm swithched things up a bit in there? Might have to run down one of these weekends and check things out. Shaggy, you are about due for a trip into the Swell since you have never done canyons there in your vast experience as a canyoneer.

I also noticed the Discovery page is advertising the "Nightmare Canyon" episode airing November 10, 11, 23 and 24th.

Ya, what Reedus said...I can guarantee that water wasn't clear and flowing like that, and that downclimb isn't really that tricky. I guess it COULD be tricky if the boulders were covered with snow and slippery...

also, ANYthing can be tricky if you've lost your confidenceThat's gotta be the quote of the week. It applies to everything, not just the outdoors.

Reedus

True dat. Didn't think of it like that but it makes sense. It is amazing how your confidence fails when you aren't at 100%. I thought threading tippet through a dry fly (flyfishing) was simple until I tried to do it a couple of weeks ago with numb fingers. Put a whole different spin on things

I found some torrent links for other episodes in the series. So I would guess that someone out there will record the "Nightmare Canyon" and put it out there.

I prefer bitcomet, i am sure someone will disagree.
http://www.bitcomet.com/
Anyways... Make sure you Torrent has Seeds (no seeds no download, the more the better/faster)
Install, then when you download the torrent file, open with bitcomet and it will download the file for you.

a torrent client is the software used to download a torrent file. a torrent file acts as a pointer to direct you to a peer's file and contains info such as location, file name, file size, etc. you can google a torrent file, download the file, then open the file w/ your torrent client to begin the download. BitComet is nice because you can perform a search from w/in the program itself and don't need to Google the desired media. i haven't had much luck w/ torrents. i seem to end up w/ porn, audio only, or else a video w/ a narrator speaking yiddish.

I have been using torrents for years and have only run into porn on accident a few times out of thousands of downloads.
My fav torrent sites are ... www.torrent-finder.com or www.mininova.org.
