Well, since the gum topic was already brought up (darn it)....would any of you peeps being willing to disclose your name? First name that is. Are ya brave enough to break out from your pseudonym (if you have one on here)?

Some people call me freak, some people call me nasty, my brothers nicknamed me Skynyrd, but my mama named me Jason. As if you didn't already know from my text below! :ne_nau: Forgot to add: I'm also called Jay, and Jay-Money frequently at work.

I probably have my first name listed in my profile, but if not, I don't care if anyone knows it - Sonya

Other names: SJ and Doc by friends; Dr. J; probably "bitch ex-girlfriend" by a few :lol8: , "my ex-wife" by one :bootyshake: .

I am so lazy, and had a lot much fun with my brain cells in the 80s. :boozer:

So I use my real name on every forum I join, just to keep it simple for me.

I quite possibly took one too many blows to the head, maybe it was the Ramones show. :chairshot:

Close - it's actually Lynn. The "J" is just random. I try to stay a bit anonymous. I've had some creepy weirdo lurkers (just plain weirdos are fine) show up at my place of employment in the past when I have given my name or other trackable personal information out on boards like these. They can be hard to ditch. So, that's why I don't post a picture either plus Springdale is a small place and it's fun to post whatever I want here without friends and family giving me crap about it.

Jan......just Jan. Not short for Janice or Janet, etc. I don't think my Mom had much imagination when it came to naming me. Savanna was going to be the name I used if I'd ever had a daughter. I "feel" more like a Savanna than a Jan anyway and it's a reminder of my Southern roots. :haha:

David. I guess I don't have much imagination either. Interesting to see what people use as "handles" compared to real names. Savanna is cool.

I suppose I use my real name on bb where I know most of the people, like the mountain biking boards from back home. The handle came from a group I used to ride with that was big on nicknames - no one went by their real names, even when hanging out together. I got treehugger not only because I favor myself an environemental adovcate but because I have a bad habit of running into, thus "hugging", trees!!

Tree hugger- If I remember correctly, you are from Michigan. Did you belong to the "Beat the Train in Detroit" group? That is my brother's riding group. I will be going back in May and then again in June and hope to ride with them then

I am originally from Michigan as well. Never heard of your brothers group, or even MMBA when I used to live there and ride. It was a while back though. Probably because I wasn't the internet slut that I am now.

On a side note, it is very interesting to learn everybody's name so far. Thanks for being brave ya'll! We did a "what does your handle mean" awhile back, and it was interesting to learn that as well. Maybe we need a refresher since there are so many new faces???

Don - But you already knew that.

I'm not real big on screen names but I can see where some folks would be more comfortable with a bit of a buffer. I'm just strange anyway and I don't care who knows.

to the Michiganders here (there is no such thing as a michiganian), where are you from? I grew up on the west side of Detroit. My wife is from East Lansing and we lived in Kalamazoo for several years.

Haven't lived there in awhile but my Dad's side of the family all lives there so get back for life events (wedding this fall). Anyway, Dad's from Holt and I was born in Manistique and spent my formative years living in Germfask (look it up on a map it will explain my social disfunction).

Your picture reminded me so much of my grandmother. She grew up in Wakefield in the UP. That is about ten miles east of Ironwood. Growing up, we had a cabin on Lake Superior. I would go up there with my family, take a friend, and he and I would back pack down the beach for a few days. That was a blast! I have a brother-in-law who lives in Holt right now.

That's great because that is my grandmother in the UP. We skied everywhere when I was growing up. They used to tease me that I move better on skis than I do walking. Sometimes I think it's still true!

She lives in Holt now. She doesn't get out much in the snow anymore but I love that picture.

David,
Nope, never heard of that group. I rode with the guys and gals of the MMBA and the Spokejunkies (a group that originated in Ohio and had a chapter in MI): www.mmba.org, www.spokejunkies.com (although this is the Ohio site, they're not as welcoming or fun as the Michigan group, although, you didnt hear that from me!!)

I'm from Ann Arbor. Lived there all of 39.5 years before moving out here a few years ago. I really love Michigan, actually, but I really LOVE the mountains!! :2thumbs:

There are only two things that I don't like about Michigan; January and August. Besides that, it is a gorgeous state.
