Whats up?
I guess I'm the latest new guy here, checking in from 29 Palms, CA. I have lived in utah my whole life except the last 4 years. I been hiking and camping all over the state since I was a little kid, and this year have started canyoneering and climbing. I do pretty much anything and everything that I can outdoors. Canyoneering is my latest crave, I've only been in Little wild horse and I can't wait to start going again.

Welcome!

Have you been exploring in Joshua Tree? Neat country in those parts, I really like Hidden Valley.

I mainly did some rock climbing in JT but I have been to a few places in the park. I also did the cactus to clouds hike in palm springs probably the hardest hike I've done.

Cactus-to-clouds? That must be a hike to the top of Mt. San Jacinto (sp?)?

I've seen that mountain up close, it must be as much climbing as hiking, it looks pretty straight up and down.

What kind of elevation gain is that? The cable car must go up a few thousand, at least, if I remember right.

I think its about 8000 feet to the tram and 10500+ to the peak. I'll see if I can find the web page I got all my info from.

The page is http://www.geocities.com/cactus2clouds/mainmenu.html if you ever want to go there. I went in mid November and the weather was nice , not too cold or hot, but up at the tram there was some snow on the ground.
San Gorgonio peak is another long but worth while hike in the area.

Dude, 8000 feet of elevation gain in 11 miles?

For this beer belly hiker, that might be a Baatan death march.
