You did hit the perfect water level. A couple of feet one way or the other and its not as cool. :thumb:

Gloden Spike is fun. Did you drive the two Auto Tours?

FYI: you can just keep adding pictures to your orginal post and all the pics will be contained in one message. After you hit the attach button anther one attach button appears. Just keep loading.... only secret is to load in reverse order because the first picture attached will move to the bottom of the message.

Here are a few neat pics from the jetty:

We checked it out last year and I thought it was super cool - something about it that seemed kinda mystical to me. I really liked it.

OK. Here's a question from a non-native: How was the jetty made? After years of being underwater it looks natural but, so concentric!

What crap! I though dumping 55gal barrels of glue on the ground was an environmental disaster, stupid me its really art. The spiral jetty is an eyesore. Reminds me of the "Tree of Utah".

I don't think this quite falls into the same category as the stupid tree. It's out of the way (you actually have to want to go there in order to see it), and it's nowhere near as obtrusive as the tree.

I kinda dig the tree. A groovy little surprise as you drive through a bunch of nothingness.

sounds to me like you're picking a fight for the sake of fighting...?
you seem to be awfully combative lately James, you need a hug?

i wonder if you're putting to much into it. often times "artists" and i use that term loosely, place their work to engage people into a dialog about either the piece of work, the surrounding environment or both. they are there for comment. and if it didn't affect you in some way, we would not be discussing your reaction to it now. your reaction and opinion is part of the experience too.
now don't you feel used...you were part of a "hippy art experience" ewww :lol8:

I don't like the Utah Tree but I like the Spiral Jetty....... that's what art is, some you like, some you don't.......

I really enjoy the rock art in the salt flats along side the road as you drive to Bendover. Yup.... mostly its just trash but some people are very creative with how they arrange their trash

You know I get that a lot. I am just stating my opinion. I guess my matter of fact way of putting things can come across as me trying to be mean. My feeling is people in this forum try too hard to craft their posts in a way that couldn
