K, I know everyone just wants to see the pictures, and I'll get to that.

Location: Eye of the Needle - Near Zion National Park, Utah
Date: October 22, 2005
Group: Sam, Masiel, and Devan Gregory, and Jason Price
Equipment: 100’ 200' and 60' canyoneering ropes, harnesses, rappel device, ascenders, headlamps, helmets, wetsuits, neoprene socks, food and water.
Time: entered the canyon at 9:15 am (cold) exited an eternity later.
Notes:
We left my mountain bike at the West Rim trailhead and drove back to the Logandale campground and crashed for the night there. In the morning we cruised down the hill and got to the canyon at about 9:15. This is our halloween canyon, so we dressed up a little for it.

Anyway, we got into the canyon and did the first few rappels. I dont' knwo if we just didn't understand the beta we had, or if it was incorrect, but we had some mixups, our radios quit working, and the big rappel was not smooth. I ended up at the eye of the needle with no more rope, no way to communicate, and I ended up sliding down the rest of the cliff into the six inches of water at the bottom. Anyway, we got it all worked out (barely), everyone made it to the bottom, and we got all of our ropes.

After that, the canyon was a piece of cake. Just romping down a wet canyon with some minor rappels and tall walls. Pretty cool stuff.
Now, let me give a warning
The MIA exit SUCKS!!!!!!!! The descriptions are wrong. It's a lot worse than they say. I know that they say it's hard and that you don't want to do it, but in all of my canyoneering, This was 5 times worse than any other entrance/exit hike. I got to the top of the exit okay, but then you have to hike another 3-4 miles on this road that just never ends. IT NEVER ENDS.
Then you get on your mountain bike, since we didn't have a car spot and bike another who-knows-how-many miles back to the car, trying to avoid all the idiot hunters that are shooting from the roads. :frustrated:
Anyway, we all made it okay, my foot is killing me today, but whatever. Here we are, and another notch in the belt.
