Alright we only have five people signed up in the league.

Here's who said they wanted to play.

icthys (check)
Rock Gremlin (check)
Accadacca (check)
Live2Ride (check)
Kill em All (check)
troutfisher (?)
Crazy Horse (check)
Sombeech (check)

I have two others and I will get on their case to get signed up. Correct me if I am wrong icthys. Isn't the cap 10 for the league?

I believe I capped at 12 just in case, if we only have 10 it's no big deal. In order to draft we need an even number of players.

accadacca
08-12-2005, 12:22 PM
We now have eight in the league. We would like to get at least two more. Icthys mentioned that he set the cap at 12. We need a couple more people to make the ten. Get signed up if you want in. This is going to be a good time. My team "Big Balls" is going to violate the other teams..... :lol8:

Yeah we still need or want more people. You can use the link at the top of the page to sign up. Football is the easiest all of the fantasy league's. We would then need one more to make an even ten. The league caps at twelve. Jump right in there. :2thumbs:

Okay, my team is the "Blood Spillers" at least until I can think of a better name. By the way, does anyone know how to get to the help page or the FAQ page? I know there's a Java download if we're doing a live draft that we need, but I had to stop in the middle of the download and can't find my way back to that page.

Cheers,

Shane

Sweet! Good to have you in the league Shane. You can look at the settings link for some league info. It shows that we are doing an auto draft. So we wont need the java deal. You should set your "Pre-Draft Player rankings" list the way that you would want it for the draft. It is currently set up as the default.

As mentioned we now need one more team. So someone pony up and join. It would be cool to have a female in there. It is really easy and the people that are the least interested or know the least sometimes do the best. :ne_nau: It is all about the numbers........

icthys
08-22-2005, 01:04 PM
As a warning to settings your pre-rankings, it's not as black and white as it seems.

For instance, the first year I pre-ranked I thought it would draft your team as follows.

1. RB Holmes
2. DEF Ravens
3. QB Manning
4. WR Owens

I picked my first choice in each postion and used them as my first 1-10 ranked picks. When the draft started the guy with the first pick got Holmes, I then picked 2nd. This is where it got screwed up, instead of next picking a running back after Holmes I drafted the Ravens defense as my #1 pick!!! Big mistake!!! You don't want to draft a defense in the first 10 rounds! Then by the time my second pick came up Manning and Owens were gone, thus picking a low running back as my 2nd pick. My roster was all screwed up.

I finally figured out how the auto-draft works. Even though I've figured it out you can only figure it out for the first 1-3 rounds, the reason is you never know how the other managers are going to draft. The auto is not an ideal draft system, but in a league where we have begginers the auto is best (not to mention I don't want to take the time to have a 4 hour live draft). The very best thing to do is keep the rankings the way yahoo has set them, unless you're confident you've figured it out.

I doubt any of that made sense?

I'm tossing around an idea.

I work for a high end home theater company. We have a sweet showroom in Sugar House. I think it may be cool to have a kick off party. We can watch the game in HD on a 100" screen. The problem is I'll be in Indy that opening weekend, though we could do it for the Monday night game.

What ya'll think?

Alrighty, I found another player, a good friend of mine.

We've now got 10 players. Should I close it up and get the draft going? or wait and see if others want to play? I say get it going.

accadacca
08-24-2005, 05:57 PM
Lets get it ON!!! :wallbash: I say give a date when you are going to do the draft. Just to give people a few days to change players if they want. Not like they have not had enough time already. My $.02 :blahblah: You ARE the long arm of the law......commish.

icthys

It's time to get this thing going.

I've sent emails to those who responded to me.

I am going to change our status to "ready to draft" tomorrow/tues/Aug 30.

After I've set it it will only take a couple days to draft.

Good luck to you and pull your panties up and get ready to play.

icthys
08-29-2005, 04:21 PM
I almost forgot to set the draft order. This was done totally at random. I wrote down the #'s 1-10 on pieces of paper. I then blindly drew a # for each player in the order that they registered. This draft order could help with your pre-rankings. Here is the order in which each team registered and the position they will draft in.

1. Wasatch Wasps #10
2. Big Balls #6
3. Live2ride #2
4. Savage Injuns #5
5. lurpy beasts #8
6. Sons of Beaches #9
7. Cunning Cowboy #3
8. Krum katchers #7
9. Blood Spillers #4
10. Lumberjacks #1

Keep in mind that the 1st round will draft in order 1-10, the second round will draft 10-1, and so on alternating the order from 1-10 and 10-1.

If anyone needs extra time to set pre-ranking let me know, otherwise I will set the pre-draft to ready tomorrow evening at 5:00.

Good luck

icthys

We've had 2 more sign up making a total of 12 teams!

I've reassigned the draft order. Sorry for the inconvienence, I hope it doesn't add any problems.

To give people a little more time in case they don't get the update until later tonight the draft will now be tomorrow (Wed) at 5:00 pm.

Wasps 11
Big Balls 5
Live2Ride 10
Savage injuns 4
Lurpy Beasts 3
Sons of Beaches 6
cunning cowboy 7
Krum Catchers 2
Blood Spillers 12
Lumberjacks 8
Ice 9

We ARE doing this for $$$ are we not? (at least that was my impression). Should we say a minimum $5 bid -- putting the pot at $60? I would be willing to go higher if others don't mind - say $10 or so. ($120 pot aint bad).

Let me know the amount and where to send the $$$. :2thumbs:

icthys
08-30-2005, 04:31 PM
I'm ok with a little wager. We need to check with everyone. If you don't want in on the pot then we can figure it out with those that do.

Lets go with $10.

Do you want it to be winner takes all, or divide it up for the top 3?

rockgremlin
08-30-2005, 05:11 PM
Hmmm. I'm leaning more towards winner takes all - or maybe the top two split the winnings down the middle?

What does everybody think?

I can handle the money. Just send it my way....... :lol8: I have a PayPal account and can hold it until the end of the season. But we only have 4 of the twelve that have committed to money? If everyone agrees then I will give my PayPal info.

I thought we were supposed to draft yesterday? :ne_nau:

icthys
09-01-2005, 12:01 PM
I set the draft to "ready" yesterday (actually early this morning). On the league page somewhere it says the draft will happen between now and Monday. It usually happens sooner than later. I apologise if I was misleading and caused you to think everything would be drafted by this morning. It'll happen, just keep checking.

Shane

Geez, that's kind of a negative point of view. There's people in this world that live in worse conditions than those who have just been made homeless in New Orleans.

Before Katrina hit, would you have felt guilty about spending $10 because of all the destitution in all of the third world countries in the world?

You're right---life goes on, and there are many people worse off. Can't help them all. And yeah, sometimes I feel guilty about spending money on things when I could be helping someone in a third world country. I guess it's because this one is so close to home, in America, and so recent. I stopped looking for a digital camera because of it--at least for the time being.
The 9/11 thing was a little different. In that case, the terrorists wanted us to change our way of life, so the thing to do was keep on being Americans and doing what we do.
Sorry if I was a bit negative. I didn't really mean to be. Just kind of thinking out loud.
I guess the real negative thing I'm going to say is "Why dole out ten bucks when I'm drafting 12th and I'm a rookie at this? I'll just be throwing a Hamilton down the drain."

You use the pull down menu and put the guy you want on the bench to BN (bench). To complete this you have to push submit changes at the bottom of the page. Then select the player to take his place with the pull down menu. Then again push submit changes again.........more help below.

rockgremlin
09-07-2005, 09:41 PM
...who knows if I have Spyware on my PC.

Install and run Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and CWShredder.

These programs are considered the best anti-spyware software apps available. They're all freeware, and will clean 99% of all spyware off your hard drive. Don't surf without em!! I use these on a regular basis, and I've cleaned loads of nasties from my hard drive.

Links to downloads:

Adaware (by Lavasoft):
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

Spybot Search and Destroy (v. 1.4):

CWShredder:

Also, if you're not running Zone Alarm (or some other reliable firewall) and a good anti-virus program you're asking for trouble. :crazycobasa:

Thanks boys. That's been a big hold up for me paying (notice my smooth transition back to the original topic?)

I'll try those anti spyware programs out.

They're free, right? I would think it ironic to enter your cc# on an unprotected PC to purchase it, and THEN be protected AFTER your account info went world wide.

rockgremlin
09-08-2005, 04:41 PM
Ya, it's all free. Beware of the generic "anti-spyware" software out there. There are literally thousands of anti-spyware companies out there (and some of them are actually spyware themselves), but the three I suggested previously have been around for a long time, are trusted, and offer updates on a regular basis (in order to accomodate newer and upgraded versions of spyware).

I...um...think about this stuff sometimes when I'm watching Monday night Football...ya...and now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Sombeech
09-08-2005, 10:17 PM
Spyware reminds me of football a lot. It's like when there's the kickoff, and the kicker ... kicks... ball...

Whomever put Ashley Lelie on waviers (Savage Injuns?) I want to say a big thank you.

Um.......you might want to take a look at his total offense for this season. In yesterday's game, he had a paltry 5 YARDS TOTAL OFFENSE!!!! This suggests that last night's touchdown was a fluke. Dude, he had ONE reception. Count them: ONE! Fortunately for you, his only reception happened to be in the end-zone. In five games he has had a total of 113 yards total offense!! He sucks!!!

If I would have held on to him, I would have surely lost to Big Balls last week (last week, he had a total of 13 yards total offense!)

Look at the big picture....

Iceaxe
10-10-2005, 08:46 AM
6 is good.... I'll take it every week. :five:

We shall see how the big picture plays out... Ashley's problem is Plummer, not Ashley.... and I am banking the coaching staff will correct that little problem.

Ashley can catch the pill if you toss it his way.... YMMV.

I've got a general roster question. A typical starting line-up consists of 3 wide receivers and two running backs. Is that configuration MANDATORY? Or is it possible to start two wide receivers and 3 running backs?

.

So why does he drop so many balls? The reason he isn't getting many thrown his way is because he's been so inconsistent. If there are going to be any changes made by the coaches, it will undoubtedly be with Lelie and not plummer. Have you watched any Bronco games this year? Granted, Plummer hasn't been very productive, but Plummer's not going anywhere. At least not this year. One positive note for Lelie, though is that they are trying to keep him in the offense rather than giving up on him altogether. And if you can figure which couple of games he gets 6 on, then you deserve to win. He got his 6 against a top rated defense, so go figure.

His "Q" is Torry Holt, one of the best WRs in the NFL. He is taking it day-to-day. It's possible that Torry will play on Monday. If I had Torry, I'd bank on him playing. He's too good to bench. The bye guy I dunno about, I suspect he'll swap him out last minute.

I have a "Q" on my roster too - Thomas Jones, who's been my bread n' butter RB this season. He is also taking it day-to-day. Ya, I'll admit that EVERY SINGLE TIME my point totals dropped, my opponent's point totals dropped dramatically as well. It could be luck. It could be that I'm placing a hex on the other team so that they won't do better than me no matter how good they are! :haha:

I think the key to winning at Fantasy Football is just staying on top of your players every single week. Three of my wins have come from weeks when I played opponents who had "bye" players in their rosters, this week being no exception. Several weeks ago when I played Live2Ride, I lucked out big time because I scored a measly 42 points and still beat him (only by 2 points), but that's because he didn't replace one of his best players who was out with an injury that week.

Both Crickets and Sons of Beaches played me with "bye" players in their starting line-up.

Gotta stay on top of it to get the W.

It seems every time I have an off week I'm playing a good team and I get stomped and every time I have an outstanding weekend I'm playing a team without a manager. That's kinda the luck of the draw. This is also my first fantasy team and it took me a couple of weeks to get the swing of things.

Yeah..... it would be nice if everyone took 10 minutes every Friday and watched over there teams. There is NO excuse for having players in bye weeks. You can set you line-up in advance from the first day you got your team.

If RB's were sp easy to come by someone trade me LT2 and go find another one. RB's are a big part of winning, they are setup to recieve the most points. 1 pt every 20 yds running compared to 1 pt for every 50 yds recieving. Not to mention the bonus pts for getting over 100 yds rushing.

My WR's haven't been so hot either, except for Moss. My biggest accomplishment has been picking up my kicker off of waivers at the beginning of the season, he's scored more points than anyone else on my team.

I've got Kerry Collins and Brad Johnson.

Collins has been consistent and is a good start any week.

I just picked up Johnson who is starting for Minn. He scored over 20 pts yesterday and has quite an easy schedule for the rest of the season.

Make me a sweet offer, unlike the nutsack that offered me Ricky Williams for Santana Moss!

rockgremlin
11-07-2005, 11:12 AM
I propose my Drew Brees for your Kerry Collins. I've done the math and the stats work out in your favor. Stats since week 6:

Week 6
Yardage: Collins 292, Brees 164
TDs: Collins 0, Brees 1
INT: Collins 1, Brees 0

Week 7
Yardage: Collins 261, Brees 299
TDs: Collins 1, Brees 2
INT: Collins 0, Brees 2

Week 8
Yardage: Collins 238, Brees 324
TDs: Collins 3, Brees 3
INT: Collins 1, Brees 1

Week 9
Yardage: Collins 175, Brees 270
TDs: Collins 2, Brees 1
INT: Collins 1, Brees 1

TOTALS - LAST FOUR WEEKS
Yardage: Collins 966, Brees 1057
TDs: Collins 6, Brees 7
INT: Collins 3, Brees 4

Collins is the 8th ranked QB. Brees is the 5th ranked QB.

I'm willing to make this trade because I'm strapped for a QB this week. My loss is your gain. My offer comes with a guarantee: If you're dissatisfied with Brees down the road, and want Collins back at any time, let me know and we'll trade back.

rockgremlin
11-07-2005, 11:23 AM
Oh and another thing Icthys...if we do make the trade, Brees isn't gonna do you any good during week 10 (since he has a bye). I just picked up Chicago's QB (Kyle Orton), who is decent. Chicago is at home against the 49ers in week 10, so he should turn out some decent numbers. I would give you both Orton AND Brees for Collins.

icthys
11-07-2005, 11:52 AM
So, I would basically be doing you a BIG favor. Yes, you've got Orton, but even against SF, Chicago's Offense isn't that great. If I took your trade I would get a QB who has a bye, you would get a great play in Collins. I'd be left with Johnson who did have a good game against Detroit but playing him against the Giants this week is a risk.

I'll send you an official trade offer.

rockgremlin
11-07-2005, 03:10 PM
Well, yes, but you also get Drew Brees for the remainder of the season.

Statistically, Orton is a much better QB than Johnson. Johnson only has three weeks of starting experience. And, the Minnesotta Viking's offensive line sucks (which is why Culpepper is sitting on the sideline with his knee in a cast these days). In other words, Johnson is "sack-bait."

 Bennett should put up big numbers this week, he is the only healthy back at Minn and he had over 100 yards and put up 11 fantasy points last week. He should do the same this weekend and maybe for the rest of the season. Minn lost Culpepper for the year and has no passing game. They have to run.

 Parker is solid and will be for the rest of the season. He is averging better then 5 fantasy points a game.

Michael Bennett #23 Minnesota Vikings

Before Sunday, Michael Bennett's last 100-yard rushing day came in Week 14 of '03 against Seattle. Since then, injuries have afforded him just 111 carries and 441 rushing yards in 19 games coming into Week 9. But Bennett, who rushed for 1,296 yards in '02, re-emerged on Sunday, thanks to a wrist strain to starter Mewelde Moore, who sustained the injury early in the game and removed himself entirely in the fourth quarter. Bennett carried 18 times for 106 yards to help lead Minnesota to just its third win of the season. Bennett figures to play a more prominent role in the offense going forward.

I still need a descent WR.... but willing to entertain all offers.....

They set the order for the playoffs.....

In other words.... if the 6th and 7th place team have identical records... points are the tie breaker.... the 6th place team makes the playoffs and the 7th place team goes home!!!!

The way I see it... finishing the regular season in 1st or 2nd is good because you get a BYE. Points might decide the 2nd place team.... and the fight for 6th is really heating up.... that damn Elli Manning is KILLING me.

I need to kick that guy right in the nuts..... he has been playing great at home and sucks on the road..... which I could live with.... but now he sucks at home also.... why is this so bad you ask? Because my number one RB, TE and WR all play on Elli's team and he can't get them the damn football!!!!

Currently I'm just gunning for the playoff's.... if Elli gets hot like he did before his BYE week my team is really hard to beat.... if Elli keeps chokeing I'm a sitting duck..... I don't think any other fantasy team is tied so tight around one player.

Points matter.... big time!!!

They set the order for the playoffs.....

Well...seeing as how I won't have identical records with anybody (because I can't lose), I'm not too concerned with tie-breakers. :bootyshake: :lol8:

Seriously, it's a curse to play against me. Everyone who plays me chokes. It's not that I'm that great, it's just that when everyone else plays me, they fall on their face. Case in point - this week's match-up versus the Krum Katchers -- who has been putting up HUGE numbers lately. Tonight his QB found a way to fumble away one possession, and throw 3 INTERCEPTIONS! That works out to be (-4) points. OUCH! That and L.T. has a bye, and all his other WRs only got mild gains, and ZERO TDs.

I can't explain it. :ne_nau:

ALL that matters is that your perfect season will be over after the Phillie defense lets the cowboys running game have it. Then my man T. Glen will have a field day with the Phillie secondary, just racking up more points for me. :blbl:

Time to act out your avatar...... :lol8:

Looks like I was on the wrong end of the lucky stick this week. Damn Jacksonville defense beat me. Couldn't Arizona have at least kicked another friggin field goal or two? Geez!!

Lots of stuff worked out against my favor this week, including the fact that I had been trying to switch Moore for Jones since Tuesday, but Yahoo wouldn't let me make the switch until Sunday morning. I tried all Sunday morning to make the switch, but it kept giving me an error message saying "Player profile may not be altered at this time."

Thomas sat out this week with bruised ribs, and Moore ran 76 yards for a TD. That alone cost me 9 points!!! Thanks a pantload Yahoo!!!! :frustrated:

Oh well, it won't happen again. You're all doomed. My boy Carson Palmer is back and healthy, and I'm deep, deep, deep with excellent RBs and WRs.

Yeah your boy Barber went to the house once. He almost went another time but slipped on the turf. He was inches away from the win for you. Ahhhh the first taste of a bitter LOSS! :lol8:

Ya, tell me about it. I was watching the game, and I saw that he had a clear shot straight to the endzone, and then he tripped or something. I was so pissed!! That should've been a 57 yard rush to the endzone, but instead it ended up being a 26 yard rush. :frustrated:

Hey for all those in need of WRs, RBs, or a good QB:

I need a decent tight end. I'm shopping Drew Brees again, but this time I'll throw in one of my decent WRs and/or RBs. Make me an offer.

No reasonable offer refused!!

Hey Krum Katchers - I see your QB scored a whopping (-4) points last week. Drew Brees has thrown TWICE as many TDs as your current QB. How about my Brees + one of my WRs or RBs for Gonzalez?

Yes, I KNOW, I KNOW, I talked a lot of $hit about Gonzalez earlier this season, but it looks like Kansas City has pulled their head outta their ass, and have decided to give him more than two touches a game.

So, whaddaya say?

So I think that the playoffs should be a blast considering there are several very well put together teams in our league.

I propose doing a Fantasy Football Super Bowl for the Championship game. We would all get together at somebody's place and gather up a bunch of Buffalo Wings and drinks and talk $hit, throw popcorn, etc. It would have to be at someone's place that has ample room (which automatically eliminates my place, but I could bring a bunch of yummy treats! :2thumbs: ).

What say you? Your thoughts? I think it could be a lot of fun!! :five:

Sounds like a good time to me. Buffalo wings always agree with me. To bad I still don't work where I have access to a bad ass HD theater.

I'm thinking I'm going to be the cinderalla team and take everyone by suprise from the depths of 9th place.

Watch out for Krum Katchers - he just got a little better. He and I struck up a deal to get my TE back in exchange for an upgrade to his WR and QB spots.

I think it worked out well for both of us.

I'm excited for the playoffs. Should be interesting. Anybody wanna volunteer their place for the Championship game? C'mon Ice -- I KNOW you live out in Draper somewhere, so your crib has gotta be pretty roomy. If someone wants to guarantee a place, then I will guarantee the good eats (Buffalo wings, home-made Rio Grande Potato Salad, 7-Layer bean dip, etc, etc)

Yeah, F you too.... :lol8:

I don't know how it would shake out, season wise. You know the super bowl is not a part of our season. Our season, playoffs, and championsship game all occur in the NFL regular season. Otherwise you end up with players with no points because they are not in the NFL playoffs. Get it? This is why it might be hard to pinpoint the exact date.

But don't teams get eliminated until there are only two left? Then our 'Super Bowl' would be between those two teams.

Yup.... week 17 of the regular season....

It seems to me the two guys facing off the final weekend should be putting out the spread for everyone else :naughty:

It needs to be someone with the NFL ticket, so that we could watch all the games. So we don't have to watch the donkeys and niners.
