Hey everybody. My name's Jason and I'm a newbie here. I was wondering if any of you have by chance hiked in Great Basin, and of those who have, who made it to the top of Wheeler Peak? "Normally" how long till enough snow is melted off for most people to make it without cramp-ons? Or are they always required pretty much?

Personally I've always wanted to get out that way, but haven't yet. Sorry... :ne_nau:

How high is Wheeler Peak?

I think it is a "tad" over 13,000 if I am not mistaken. I heard it is great, and not too crowded.

I wish that is why I was broke...those damn :assault: hotel owners jacked up their rates SKY-HIGH for the race and screwed us :bootyshake: big time. That's what I get for letting my brother's chick plan the thing...next time will be different!
