Farmington Canyon road takes you all the way up to Francis Peak, which is 4 miles South of Thurston Peak. (Francis Peak is the peak that has those two white radar towers that look like domes, visible from the valley). Between Thurston and Francis Peaks there are 5 peaks that must be traversed. There was quite a bit of snow up there still, which made for an interesting hike.
Farmington Canyon was crowded, but the trail was deserted. There were a lot of people up there with motorcycles and ORVs, but nobody was on the trail with us. It was moderately windy, but it wasn't a cold wind, and there were no mosquitoes, gnats, or biting flies.
We saw two rattlesnakes, one of which could have easily bitten Mike. He stepped right over the top of it before it started rattling!!! :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh:
